How to cancel your Amazon Web Services (AWS) Account

I’ve come across a heap of Google results about closing an Amazon AWS account or closing an EC2 instance, so, I thought I’d make it easy and provide a quick link that’ll allow you to do so:

https://portal.aws.amazon.com/gp/aws/manageYourAccount?#productToCancel

Assuming you’ve already logged in, head over to ‘Cancel Selected Services’ and select what you’d like to cancel.
Once selected, just click ‘Cancel Service’.

Easy, right?

I’ve tried to cancel my AWS Amazon account TWICE. They won’t do it but keep charging on it although I’ve even emptied the content. I used it as a trial for a few weeks and cancelled it.
Are we dealing with another AOL where you can’t actually cancel your account no matter how much you try?

      Hi Tun,

You’ll need to remove any EC2 instances and associated elastic IP’s – once removed, you will stop being billed as AWS is a pay-for-what-you-need solution.

I’d suggest contacting Amazon directly (don’t worry, their support is responsive and you can request a call to your mobile) if this doesn’t fix the issue.

      Thanks!
